Several of the Trustees from the Friends of the Rose Bowl spent an enjoyable evening catching up with Clive Tachie, Dawn Jarrett and Stacey Jeakins.
Each member of staff works tirelessly to provide informative, practical, fun and valuable programmes for the children. The sessions cater to all age groups at the centre. In addition, the staff provide ongoing support for the children and their families. During the pandemic, conditions have been particularly challenging for many residents of the New River Estate. And the Rose Bowl has provided a safe haven.
The recently refurbished roof terrace is a wonderful venue. We shared a meal and were treated to videos of the children sharing their stories and explaining why the youth centre is so important to them.
We also learned of several initiatives to improve the facility and programmes, including the installation of a kitchen on the terrace that will support outdoor learning, promote healthy eating and teach the children and young people skills.
