Support from The Canonbury Society

The Canonbury Society Winter Drinks provided an opportunity to raise awareness of the activities of the Rose Bowl Youth Club and its impact on the local area.

Speaking to the packed Upper Hall of the Union Chapel, Oswin Baker, Chair of the Friends of the Rose Bowl, praised the dedication and care of the youth workers, especially Clive Tachie and Dawn Jarrett. Oswin also shared news of the refurbishment of the club. The cost of these capital improvements were covered by funds raised by FoRB and Islington Borough Council.

The children come to the club to be in a safe place where they can learn and practise social, life and performance skills, where they can play and have fun, build a sense of respect and community and where they can share their challenges and get encouragement and counsel.

Oswin was joined by FoRB Trustees, Nina Konrad, Paul O’Donnell and Sylvana Caloni in selling raffle tickets. The major prize was a £100 voucher donated by Canonbury Beauty. Guests gave generously and we raised a total of £352.00.

The Trustees are very grateful to the Canonbury Society for its ongoing support and look forward to welcoming many of our neighbours to the Annual Dinner and Auction at Frederick’s on the 18th March.
